Fort Atkinson Black Hawks Football
I previously, posted a photo of my grandfather, Walter Junghans in his Fort Atkinson Black Hawks uniform.
Here is an article that appeared in the Jefferson County Union on November 9, 1967 about the history of the Black Hawks football team.
The article was interesting to me because it mentions “The Fort Atkinson lineup that day opened with Smith and Casey at ends ..." That would be my father, George Casey (b. 1906). He had graduated from U of Wisconsin that year. He is a Chicago native. The details in this article are the only details I have from his one year with the Black Hawks. I see that some of his friends (Neupert, Ruesch, etc) were still on the team in 1934. Thank you!
Hi, I am interested in Ft Atkinson Blackhawks semi-pro football team. Anyone have items from 12-12-1931 game versus Green Bay played in Janesville?
