Yunghans cigars

Last year I posted about the cigar company owned by Emil Yunghans, the eldest brother of my great grandfather, Paul Richard Junghans.

Here are some photos of the cigar boxes, provided by Daniel Yunghans, the great great grandson of Emil.

Carl Yunghans immigration

I may have found the passenger list for Christliebe (Kuehn) and Carl Heinrich Junghans'  second son, Carl Yunghans traveling from Bremen, Germany to New York City on the ship, Elbe.

There is a Carl Junghanz listed (2nd from the bottom) though Carl would have been 24 (not 26) at the time the ship arrived in New York on April 14, 1883.

While it's difficult to make out, the 1910 US Census indicates Carl immigrated in either 1882 or 1883.

Carl Frederick Yunghans marriage

I had posted previously about Carl F Yunghans the second son of Carl Heinrich Junghans and Christliebe Kuehn,  who married Hannah Kerlifofaky on November 8, 1905 in Marion, Indiana.

I found another document which not only provided the middle name for Carl (prior to today, I only had an "F") but also confirms Christliebe's last name Kuehn (or Kuhn) even though it's misspelled.

This document also provides additional confirmation that Emil, Carl, Otto and Paul were all the sons of
Carl Heinrich Junghans and Christliebe Kuehn.

Louise (Daniels) Junghans and Walter Junghans

Here is a photo of my grandparents, Louise (second from the left) and Walter Junghans (far right).  This photo was taken about 1970 in the Philippines.

Walter was the youngest child of Wilhelmina (Schmidt) and Paul Richard Junghans.

Here is a photo* of my grandfather, Walter Junghans (left) and a co-worker at work taken in January 1972.    I believe this photo was taken in the Philippines where my grandparents were living from about 1970 - 1972.

Here is a photo* of my grandfather, Walter Junghans, my step-great grandfather Bill Pearce, the sister of Martin Donnelly, Martin Donnelly (a friend of the family), and a (possible) employee of a race track. 

Walter was the son of Wilhelmina (Schmidt) and Paul Richard Junghans and the grandson of Christliebe (Kuehn) and Carl Heinrich Junghans.

Bill Pearce was the second husband of my great grandmother, Mabel (Cass) Daniels.

This photo was taken in southern California probably in the 1940's or 1950's.

Rosina Victoria (Billings) Junghans - passport application

Here is the passport application for Rosina Victoria Billings who married the 4th son of Wilhelmina (Schmidt) and Paul Richard Junghans, Paul Junghans Jr on February 12, 1919 in Winchester, England.

Christliebe (Kuehn) and Carl Heinrich Junghans' fourth (and final as far as I know) son, (my great grandparents) Paul Richard Junghans and wife Wilhelmina (Schmidt) had 5 children, William, Carl, Emil, Paul and Walter.   Their family tree can be found here.

Christliebe (Kuehn) and Carl Heinrich Junghans'  second son, Carl (Yunghans) and wife Hannah (Kerlifofaky) did not have any children, which ended their branch of the Junghans family tree.

Christliebe (Kuehn) and Carl Heinrich Junghans' third son, Otto and wife Hulda (Hahmann) had two children, Otto Jr and Martha.   Their family tree and the subsequent generations can be found here.

The family trees of three of Christliebe (Kuehn) and Carl Heinrich Junghans' grandchildren Albert, Frank and Hulda Yunghans can be found here.

Albert, Frank and Hulda were the eighth, ninth and tenth children born to Julia (Kolb) and Emil Heinrich Yunghans.   Hulda was the final child born into the family.

Now that I've posted my inventory of photos and documents of the Junghans (Yunghans) families, I'm going to update the family tree spreadsheet.

The eldest son of Christliebe (Kuehn) and Carl Heinrich Junghans was Emil Junghans.   Emil had changed the spelling of his last name from Junghans to Yunghans and settled in Vincennes, Indiana.   The spreadsheet of his branch of the family tree can be found here.

Here is a wedding announcement from April 7, 1952 edition of the Vidette Messenger newspaper of Valparaiso, Indiana for the marriage of Christliebe (Kuehn) and Carl Heinrich Junghans' grandson Charles Eugene Yunghans to Marion Kraft.

Charles was the son of Esther (Brackman) and Albert Christian Yunghans.  His grandparents were Julia (Kolb) and Emil Heinrich Yunghans (Junghans).

Here is an engagement announcement from August 14, 1951 for the marriage of Christliebe (Kuehn) and Carl Heinrich Junghans' grandson Charles Eugene Yunghans to Marion Kraft.

Charles was the son of Esther (Brackman) and Albert Christian Yunghans (the article indicated Alfred, but I believe his first name was Albert).  His grandparents were Julia (Kolb) and Emil Heinrich Yunghans (Junghans).

Otto Carl Yunghans - death certificate

Here is the death certificate for Christliebe (Kuehn) and Carl Heinrich Junghans' grandson, Otto Carl Yunghans.

Otto was born February 6, 1883 in Vincennes, Indiana to Julia (Kolb) and Emil Heinrich Yunghans.   Otto died July 6, 1945 in Cleveland, Ohio.

Henry Yunghans - robbery

 Returning to the family tree of Paul Richard Junghans' elder brother, Emil Yunghans, here is a July 27, 1932 newspaper article from The Kokomo Tribune about the theft of Henry Yunghans' wallet at a hotel in Indianapolis.   

Old newspapers are an interesting way to revisit history.  Note the "Beauty Hint" from Joan Crawford in the upper left quadrant (depicted with red arrow).

Henry was the second child born to Julia (Kolb) and the eldest of the Junghans brothers, Emil Heinrich Yunghans.   Henry's grandparents were Christliebe Kuehn and Carl Heinrich Junghans.

Dale Mason Junghans - graduation

Here is a graduation photo of Wilhelmina (Schmidt) and Paul Richard Junghans' great grandson, Dale Mason Junghans.

This photo was taken probably around June of 1963.

Dale was the son of Margie (Snell)* and Harlow Paul Junghans.   His grandparents were Della (Phillips) and William Paul Junghans.

Olga (Appleby) and William Junghans Jr were married June 27, 1937 in Beaver, Minnesota.
